Spalk Desktop has a 'dual network connection' feature, which allows you to connect two network connections to Spalk as opposed to just one. This means you can continue to commentate seamlessly even if you experience network interruptions or complete outages on either one of your connections.
If this is setup correctly, you should see both network connections listed in Soundcheck or both network connections listed in the top right of the video in Commentator Studio.
How to add a new network connection to Spalk Desktop
Spalk Desktop automatically detects "connected" network connections. So, simply, make sure your computer is connected to both networks when using the Spalk Desktop. Before game day, please verify that you are able to pass the Soundcheck and go live in the Commentator Studio when both connections are being used. Please see the following for an example.
Decide on your two network connections
Spalk recommends using two Ethernet network connections, each on a different router.
If this is not possible, Spalk recommends that one network connection is your phone's hotspot, and the other network connection is your home Ethernet. This example will use this setup.
Open Spalk Desktop, open Soundcheck, and progress to "Configure your internet connection for the App":
On the "Configure your internet connection for the App" page, the networks displayed should match those connected to your computer.
If not connected already, connect your second network connection.
If your two network connections are ready in Soundcheck, you are ready to broadcast with our 'dual network connection' feature. Finally, continue the prompts in Soundcheck, go to Commentator Studio, and verify your two network connections are in the top right of the video.
Troubleshooting:
1. OK: You only have one network connection. This is allowed, but it means you won't make use of our 'dual network connection' feature.
If you think there should be two network connections displayed here, please try the following:
- Ensure you are connected to both networks and re-open Spalk Desktop.
- If you still can't see your second network connection: Disconnect your first network, connect your second network, and re-open Spalk Desktop. Now, if you can see your second network in Soundcheck, it could mean your computer only supports connecting to one of these networks at a time.
If you are unable to resolve this, please contact Spalk for assistance.
2. ACTION REQUIRED: You have two network connections, but both use the same router, meaning you are prone to both network connections failing at the same time. This is not allowed.
To resolve this, try replace one of your network connections with another one that is on a different router. For example, if you have both WiFi and Ethernet connections to your home router, try replace your home WiFi connection with your phone's hotspot.
To quickly resolve this on game day, you can disconnect one of your network connections, but this means you will miss out on our 'dual network connection' feature.
If you are unable to resolve this, please contact Spalk for assistance.
