A strong internet connection is very important while doing remote commentary. It helps us to deliver a high quality commentary experience to our audience. Here is a quick way to test your internet connection.
- For testing, please make sure your location, network and equipment/devices are exactly the same as when you will be commentating.
- Go to https://www.speedtest.net/ and test your internet connection.
- Make sure Upload and Download speeds are at least 10 Mbps each and Ping is below 100.
To improve the quality of your connection you can:
- Change from WiFi to Cabled Ethernet connection, it is much more reliable to be physically connected to the router.
- Disconnect other devices from the network (eg Phones, tablets or other computers)
- If you cannot use a cable, move your computer closer to the router so the WiFi does not have to travel so far
- Contact your Internet Service Provider to ask for more information to improve your connection.
Note: It is also recommended to have a backup connection (eg a 4/5G Hotspot from a mobile phone) just in case your internet provider has an outage during a live broadcast. It is best to test this process before you broadcast live too!
