Purpose
This feature allows production teams to quickly toggle HTML5 graphics on and off during a live broadcast without interrupting the video signal.
It’s especially useful when a broadcast starts and the HTML5 graphics don’t load correctly. This tool lets you refresh or change the HTML5 graphics mid-broadcast to resolve display issues.
When to Use This
- If you need to change the graphics URL during a live event without stopping the broadcast.
- If your graphics engine has an issue which is appearing on your broadcast.
- If your broadcast starts but HTML5 graphics aren’t appearing.
Prerequisites
- HTML5 Graphics URL: You’ll need the correct graphics URL for the event.
Steps to Enable/Disable HTML5 Graphics
1. Locate the HTML5 Graphics Controls
- Navigate to the producer interface.
- Dashboard > Commentators > Producer
- Find the HTML5 graphics toggle option. This is near the Settings and Chat icons.
2. Disable HTML5 Graphics
- Click the toggle or control to disable HTML5 graphics.
- The current graphics overlay will disappear from the broadcast.
3. Enter a New Graphics URL (Optional)
- If you want to load different graphics, paste a new HTML5 graphics URL.
- To find the URL from the event setup:
- Go to Edit Event.
- Locate the Graphics URL field.
- Copy the existing URL.
4. Enable HTML5 Graphics
- Click the toggle or control again to enable HTML5 graphics.
- The broadcast will now display the graphics from the specified URL.
Example Use Case
If your broadcast starts but halfway through the HTML5 graphics engine crashes, and graphics are stuck.
- Disable the graphics overlay.
- Re-enable it with the same URL (or a corrected one).
- This forces the system to reload the overlay without stopping the video feed.
Troubleshooting
- If the problem persists after toggling, contact your Spalk representative for further investigation.
- This process can also be performed by any authorized organisation members.
Tip: This process works in real time and does not interrupt the video signal, making it safe to use during live coverage.
